The First Workshop of the Cold Quantum Gases European Community Network
will be held in Zakopane (Poland) from mid-day 25th June 2001 till
mid-day of 27th June 2001. The Meeting will constitute the final part of
Quantum Optics V Conference in Zakopane June 20-27, 2001.

The Workshop will be organized in Plenary Lectures and Poster Sessions.
Few Plenary Speakers of the Quantum Optics Conference will contribute to
the Workshop. The following speakers have been invited to the Conference:
N. Bigelow, K. Burnett, I. Cirac, C. Clark, M. Holland, M. Lewenstein, E.
Polzik, S. Stenholm, H. Walther, A. Zeilinger. Invitations to additional
speakers will contribute to cover the international progress in the field
of cold gases. All nodes of the Network will present at the Meeting their
recent progresses.

The Organizing Committee of the Workshop includes K. Rzazewski, W. Gawlik,
E. Arimondo, A. Aspect and W. Ertmer.

The resort village of Zakopane is located close to Cracow, in the Tatra
Mountains. The Tatra area offers not only ample opportunities for hiking,
but also is rich in local highly original folklore. The weather in the
second part of June is uncertain. It could be either warm and nice or
rainy and cold. More ambitious hikers should bring good boots. Above 2000m
there will be snow. Trails leading so high may be dangerous.

The total cost for the participation to the Quantum Optics Conference, 350
EUR per person, will include bus transportation from Krakow to the
Conference site in Koscielisko near Zakopane and back, accommodation based
on double room occupancy, all meals and the proceedings of the tutorial
part of the meeting. A supplement, to be estimated, will be required for
single room occupancy. We will also provide details of available hotel
accommodation near the conference site (rented car recommended in this
case). On Sunday, in the middle of the meeting we will have no lectures.
This day is reserved for hikes in the mountains or for an excursion to
Krakow and Wieliczka (medieval salt mine). This would of course cost extra.
